Hebrew Word of the Day-סֻכָּה,sukkah

Hebrew Word of the Day — סֻכָּה (sukkah), a temporary hut used during Sukkot. Beḥag ha-Sukkot bonim sukkah chalukah ba-ḥatzar ha-bayit. During the festival of Sukkot, we build a communal sukkah in the courtyard. Ha-sukkah masmeret et taḳrin ha-ḥul ve-etot ha-teva, ve-zot le-zikaron le-yetz’iat Mitzrayim. (The sukkah recalls the temporary shelters and signs of nature, and commemorates the Exodus from Egypt.)
