Every year, Israel comes to a standstill for Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. This solemn occasion, observed from sundown on the 27th of Nisan in the Hebrew calendar (May 5th-6th in 2024), honors the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. This is the first Holocaust Remembrance Day after the 7th of October massacre led by the Hamas Palestinazis which was a painful reminder that the Nazis are still here some speak English , some Arabic, Some German or other languages but they’re still here and they must be eliminated. Today we have a strong army to protect us thank god, but the threat is always out there.
A Day of National Mourning
Yom HaShoah is a national day of mourning. Entertainment venues close, flags fly at half-staff, and a two-minute siren wails throughout the country at 10:00 am. During this time, Israelis stand still in silent remembrance, wherever they may be.
Central Ceremonies at Yad Vashem
The most prominent ceremonies take place at Yad Vashem, Israel’s national Holocaust memorial. The state ceremony on the eve of Yom HaShoah features speeches by the President and Prime Minister, followed by the lighting of six torches by Holocaust survivors. These torches symbolize the six million victims.

While Yad Vashem draws national attention, remembrance extends far beyond its walls. Schools, military bases, municipalities, and workplaces hold their own ceremonies.
